Benenden Health has exciting opportunity and are recruiting a Head of Risk and Assurance, reporting into the Chief Risk Officer this role will be accountable for overseeing the company secretariat, risk and compliance teams and ensuring that the organisation: –
- Adheres to legal and regulatory requirements (FCA, PRA and ICO) and maintains high standards of corporate governance
- Has effective corporate governance, risk, compliance, data protection policies and processes.
- Maintains appropriate levels of insurance for the scope of activities undertaken by the group.
- Is provided with second line oversight, challenge and monitoring
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Supporting the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) in:
- Delivering a robust GRC function to support the businesses strategic objectives
- Setting and managing the function’s annual budget
- Managing the internal audit outsourced relationship
- Line and performance management of direct reports.
- Oversight of each team to ensure that the group complies with its legal, regulatory, and constitutional obligations (including UK Corporate Governance Code, PRA/FCA, Friendly Societies Act).
- Delivering reports to the Executive, Board and its sub committees on the effectiveness of the control environment and risk profile of the business.
- Identifying relevant legal and regulatory change, undertaking impact analysis as appropriate and working with the business to understand and implement the changes.
- Ensuring that appropriate frameworks and reporting mechanisms are in place to provide the Board with second line assessment of the risk and control environment and support informed decision-making.
- Engaging with Senior Management and the wider leadership to share insight, regulatory expectations, best practice and provide advice.
- Escalate matters of concern to the CRO.
- The renewal and management of the group insurance portfolio and insurance broker relationship.
- Drive continuous improvement and enhancements across the function.
Skills and Experience
Ideally educated to degree level or with relevant professional qualifications.
- Comprehensive governance, risk and compliance leadership experience
- Capability to develop and implement governance and assurance strategies
- Strategic and analytical thinker, solution-focused and innovative in overcoming complex challenges and managing change.
- Experience of budget management
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills and ability to influence at all levels.
- Ideally educated to degree level or with relevant professional qualifications
The Benenden Health office is based in York and whilst there will be an opportunity to work from home, this role is offered on a hybrid basis and there will be requirement of a weekly attendance at the office.
