We are delighted to be working in partnership with an established and forward-thinking Construction company who are looking to recruit an experienced and professional Buyer on a full time, permanent basis.
This is a unique role working as part of a larger group and reporting to the Commercial Director.
You will be responsible for obtaining competitive prices for materials and place orders timeously to meet the required delivery dates. Ensure submitted invoice process match those agreed on official orders and liaise closely with QA, Site Managers and Trades Foreman regarding projects and materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain competitive quotations from relevant suppliers
- Negotiating with suppliers on any possible savings prior to placing orders and on annual pricing agreements
- Placing purchase orders after carrying out analysis on various quotations received
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, monitor performance and resolve any issues which arise
- Collaborate with internal departments to manage and forecast demand, inventory levels and lead times in line with any operational or constructional deadlines
- Apply relevant cost coding to orders
- Endeavour to meet delivery dates for material per site requisition
- Checking of relevant invoices and pursuing credits on any incorrect invoices
- Issuing of all enquiries for the material and subcontract elements of tenders
- Checking and analysing all tender quotations upon their return
- Arranging the biannual mobile phone contract and managing any issues which arise
- Ordering toner and paper for plan printer
- Assisting with obtaining and inputting data for sustainability reporting
- Arranging all PPE protective clothing for site staff and operatives
- Liaising with Plant Manager on material uplifts
- Meeting with suppliers to discuss any new material on the market and for general update
- Attend development procurement meetings and comment on cost / alternative materials
- Manage the environment impacts of procurement activities are kept to a minimum and ensure all waste obligations are met
- Any additional tasks as required
To be considered for this opportunity, our client does require the following background / experience:
- Previous background working within a similar role, with experience in a purchasing or procurement role
- Background working within Construction or Industrial Sector
- Highly motivated and enthusiastic self starter
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Excellent business acumen and analytical skills
- Adhere to Health & Safety policy & procedures
- Organised, structured and professional with a passion for excellent, striving to deliver the best
- Good IT skills including MS Office packages
- Full UK Drivers License
