Salary: £28,000 Location: Leeds Job Type: Perm Hours: Monday Friday 8:30am 17:00pm (40 hours per week) The Candidate: As an Assistant Design Engineer, you will assist the Design Engineers by producing draft designs and technical drawings using AutoCAD and design calculation software.
You will work to the company policies and industry standards, whilst value engineering or maintaining gross margin as predicted by the Tendering Engineers.
You will be involved with client meetings and visit sites regularly to develop your understanding of the utility industry and the clients installation processes.
Duties: Assist in the production of compliant designs in accordance with customer requirements and industry standards Understand and apply ENA, DNO & IDNO G81 design standards and engineering recommendations Assist in processing job specific cost estimates for variations and contract changes Record project progression on design database Work within guidance of the company policies and BMS Ensure own design work is carried out in line with NERS, GIRS & WIRS accreditations Escalate problems in a timely manner to minimise business exposure Attend site to develop understanding of routing, plant and installation process Maintain a record of CPD to enable learning and progression Experience & Qualities Essential: Willingness to work towards formal qualifications in an electrical, gas or water discipline Experience of AutoCAD (2D only) Accuracy of drafting work and attention to detail Be technically minded and able to understand methods and equations behind calculation software Professional, helpful attitude and ability to work under pressure Good communication skills both verbal and written Desirable: Working knowledge of the utility industry Achieved or willing to working towards professional status with the IET, IGEM or IoW Ability to recognise gaps in own competencies, be it technical or soft skills Ability to multitask and prioritise own workload in line with guidance from senior members of the team Benefits: 25 days holiday bank holidays as standard Up to 3 extra days holiday for long service 2 years 1, 5 years 1, 10 years 1 The option to purchase an additional 5 day holiday per year 5% employer pension contribution 2x Death in Service Cover Private health cover, half paid for by us, and fully paid after 3 years Cycle to work scheme Apply today directly with your CV and a member of our team will be in touch ADZN1_UKTJ
