Job Description
We are currently looking for an Import/ Export Customs Administrator to be responsible for ensuring that the shipment of goods proceeds effectively. This will include ensuring that all legal obligations are met, including compliance with the AEO standard and compliance with relevant local, country and international customs laws whilst supporting good governance compliance & effective administration of the business.
- Dealing with documents such as bills of lading, certificates of origin, packing lists, GSP and standard shipping notes
- Responsibility for updating and maintaining internal data including commodity codes, country of origin and product weights
- Accurate and timely completion of necessary documentation and online forms for the efficient, cost effective and lawful execution of all import/export activities accurately logging with HMRC
- Check correct import duty and import VAT has been calculated and paid correctly by the freight agencies acting on our behalf

- Query and request corrections and amendments with freight forwarders and supplier
- Collaborate with suppliers, forwarders and agents to acquire up to date shipment information
- Provide appropriate monthly reporting of import/ export transactions and any HMRC required submissions
- Administration and provisional checks of monthly MSS Import and Export data.
- Monthly reconciliation and reporting of Import PVA
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
- A recognised import/export qualification or proven experience in a similar role
- A well-developed understanding of HMRC rules and must be familiar with the legal requirements regarding importing and exporting shipments including the understanding of the role of freight forwarders, strong knowledge of incoterms and customs entry documentation
- Knowledge of AEO accreditation and responsibilities
- Well organised and strong administrative and IT skills (especially Microsoft Excel)
