We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Regional Health, Safety and Wellbeing Consultant, covering the Midlands and Anglia region.

You'll provide comprehensive health and safety information, and advice and management services to Santander UK Companies. You'll ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of their staff, contractors and visitors is adequately protected.

You'll be accountable for ensuring compliance with UK health and safety legislation within Santander UK Companies and the protection of Santander's business reputation and brand.

The difference you'll make:

  • Implementing policies and procedures to identify, analyse and manage the full range of financial sector health, safety and wellbeing risks 

  • Managing compliance with UK health and safety legislation including Regulations, HSE Approved Codes of Practice and Industry Standards

  • Planning and conducting audits and inspections within allocated branches, offices and business divisions ensuring high standards of safety compliance are maintained

  • Providing managers and colleagues with an assessment and advisory service remotely and on-site as appropriate; including formal risk assessments, accident and incident investigations and litigation defence

  • Ensuring an adequate number of First Aiders are in place for each First Aid Zone and they are properly instructed and trained

  • Supporting vulnerable colleagues wellbeing ensuring they are effectively sign posted to appropriate support services

What you'll bring:

These are the essential requirements you need to be successful in this role:

  • A degree, diploma or equivalent vocational qualification in occupational Health and Safety

  • Experience of providing up-to-date Health and Safety statutory advice, ideally in the service sector

  • Membership of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) or other equivalent professional body

  • Detailed working knowledge of the broad range of existing, new and emergent safety legislation, HSE Codes of Practice and Guidance Notes

It would also be nice for you to have:

  • Highly developed presentation, influencing and communication skills with the ability to positively influence managers and staff at all levels

  • Demonstrable ability to analyse complex technical problems and develop simple, practical solutions that meet defined business needs

  • Proven ability to plan, implement, monitor and deliver agreed business projects within defined timescales  

What else you need to know:

This role is based in Carlton Park, and you will be expected to spend two days per month of your time in this office.

We want our people to thrive at work and home, and also be able to deliver the best outcomes for our customers and to help each other develop. To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern, however this will consist off site visits as well as being in the office.

This role is a 12-month Fixed-Term Contract.

  • We put 8% of salary into your pension, even if you don't contribute yourself. We'll pay in up to 12.5% of salary, if you contribute as well, and you can take some of our contribution in cash if you prefer.
