Your Role
EF York is looking for a passionate and organized Centre Manager to lead our summer school. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop managerial skills, gain international business exposure, and oversee daily operations in a dynamic, multicultural environment. Based in a picturesque boarding school just outside York, our centre offers students a safe and immersive residential experience, blending high-quality language education with cultural activities and excursions—including exploring York’s medieval streets and visiting iconic UK destinations.
In this role, you’ll handle high-pressure situations, lead staff briefings and meetings, and play a key part in running a successful centre with the support of an international company. The position starts in March 2025, with time spent in our London office or another UK school before moving to York for the summer (accommodation and full board provided).
Pre-Summer Responsibilities (March–June)
- Recruitment & Compliance: Lead the hiring and onboarding of all summer staff, ensuring compliance with safeguarding, health, and safety standards.
- Staff Training: Plan and organize comprehensive training sessions, tailoring content to team roles and responsibilities.
- Operations Support: Collaborate with the Operations Manager to coordinate activity bookings, transportation logistics, and other summer planning tasks.
- Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for summer staff, ensuring clarity on roles, expectations, and timelines leading up to the summer.
Summer Responsibilities (June–August)
- Leadership: Assume full responsibility for the day-to-day management of the summer school in York, leading a team of managers and coordinators across multiple departments.
- Student Welfare: Ensure a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment for students, taking ownership of their satisfaction and well-being.
- Team Management: Conduct daily briefings, weekly meetings, and one-on-one feedback sessions with staff, fostering collaboration and motivation.
- Operations: Oversee logistics, including arrivals, departures, scheduling, and production to meet quality targets.
- Accreditation & Administration: Ensure all required paperwork is completed and compliant with EF accreditation standards.
- Crisis Management: Handle any issues promptly and professionally, maintaining calm under pressure.

- Strong leadership skills with some management/team leading experience required
