About the Role
We're seeking a Public Affairs Manager to promote awareness of the Motability Foundation among political stakeholders and influence policy for the 16 million disabled people in the UK. You will collaborate with the Evidence and Policy Manager, internal teams, and Motability Operations to monitor political landscapes, provide strategic advice, and oversee our public affairs agency. With a new government and potential welfare reforms, experience in post-election public affairs strategies is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement public affairs strategies aligned with our vision.
- Build relationships with policymakers and stakeholders in Parliament and beyond.
- Monitor political and regulatory developments.
- Provide political intelligence and briefings for senior stakeholders.
- Manage Parliamentary engagement and policy advocacy.
- Work with the Evidence and Policy Manager to present policy outputs effectively.
- Develop expertise in public transport, wheelchairs, and active travel.
About You
Must-Haves:
- Strong knowledge of parliamentary processes in Westminster and devolved nations.
- Ability to manage projects independently and work collaboratively.
- Experience in policy influence and engagement.
- Strong communication skills, simplifying complex issues for diverse audiences.
- Ability to facilitate stakeholder discussions and build consensus.
- Experience working with Government, industry, and charities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
Nice-to-Haves:
Understanding of disability and transport issues (e.g., social model of disability, micromobility, EV transition).
