Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)
Company Secretary
Salary: Competitive
Location: London
The Financial Services Compensation Scheme is the UK’s compensation scheme for financial services. For the past 21 years, we have been getting customers of failed authorised financial services firms back on track; helping 6.5 million customers, paying back over £26 billion in compensation.
We have grown from modest beginnings to helping customers during historic events such as the 2008 banking crisis and supporting vulnerable customers during the pandemic. We have continually strived to be better, faster, and more empathetic to our customers' needs in an ever more complex financial world, ensuring we can offer protection and reassurance, even during the toughest times. As a result of this success, FSCS has become increasingly respected, insightful, and influential in the UK’s financial services regulatory system.
This is an exciting time to join our organisation as we transition to a new operating model and look to evolve our organisational strategy over the coming financial year. Reporting to the Chief Counsel, with a dotted line into the Chair of the FSCS Board, the Company Secretary will be responsible for ensuring that board procedures are complied with, advising the Board on all governance matters, supporting the Chair, Chief Executive and other directors and helping the Board and its committees to function efficiently.
With a proven track record working with boards, you will bring the ability to build confidence and trust across our organisation and with our external stakeholders. While previous financial services experience would be useful, it is not essential, and we are genuinely open to individuals from a range of sectors. Above all, you will share our passion and commitment to our purpose: providing a trusted compensation service that protects customers.
