Quality Technician

Salary: Up to £30,000

We are a leading manufacturer looking for a Quality Technician to join the team. Reporting directly to the Quality Manager you will play an integral role in achieving Quality targets for a true market leading company. With a long-established presence within Leeds this is an ideal opportunity for a strong Quality Technician looking for their next challenging position with the backing of a stable and secure business.

Role Responsibilities

  • Assist with calibration and inspection processes.
  • Operate the CMM (Mitutoyo experience is an advantage but not essential).
  • Support APQP for new products, including the generation and development of all documentation.
  • Liaise on internal and external tool trials/line trial support.
  • Participate in PPAP activities.
  • Investigate, resolve, and respond to customer concerns.
  • Assist with maintaining quality systems and implementing changes/improvements in line with IATF 16949 standards.

Skills & Qualifications

Essential:

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills across all levels of the business.
  • Well-organised with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Minimum GCSE Grade 3 (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
  • Experience in interpreting engineering material standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Desirable:

  • Experience in operating a CMM (Mitutoyo preferred).
  • Internal Auditor experience (IATF 16949).
  • Familiarity with APQP and PPAP documentation processes.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: Up to £30,000 per annum, paid hourly.
  • Base Hourly Rate: £14.42 per hour
  • Shift Patterns: Two rotating shifts:
  • 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
  • 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM (including some weekends)
  • Overtime Rates:
  • For the 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM weekday shift, an additional overtime premium of 1/6th of the base hourly rate applies:
  • Additional Overtime: £2.40 per hour.
  • Overtime Hourly Rate (Weekday 2-10 Shift): £16.82 per hour.
  • For Saturdays, overtime is paid at 1.3 times the base hourly rate:
  • Saturday Overtime Rate: £18.75 per hour.
  • Holidays: 25 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays.
  • Pension Contribution: 3%.
