Vertical Recruitment is working closely with a leading employee-owned Building Services Consultancy, with offices in Liverpool, Manchester and across the UK. After just two years of trading, the company transitioned to an Employee Ownership Trust and has since grown to a team of 70, with an annual turnover of £7m.

Due to continued success and a strong project pipeline, there is now an exciting opportunity for an Associate Electrical Design Engineer to join the Liverpool team. The consultancy works across a variety of sectors including commercial, residential, and industrial; delivering a mix of new build and refurbishment schemes.

This is a client-facing role that will see you lead the Electrical team and play a key part in maintaining the company’s high technical standards and reputation for quality service. You’ll be responsible for empowering team leaders, supporting technical growth, and exploring opportunities with new clients and sectors. With the company’s steady growth, this role also offers clear progression to a Director-level, shareholding position.

Main Responsibilities
  • Be accountable for technical performance, quality, and budget control on all Electrical projects.
  • Provide hands-on support to resolve technical issues as needed.
  • Oversee financial forecasting and resource planning.
  • Lead client relationships and contribute to business development.
  • Drive technical quality by implementing best practice and continuous improvement processes.
  • Provide technical leadership on bids and project opportunities.
About the Consultancy

16 years of proven expertise in Building Services and Sustainable Engineering Design. Projects include inner-city regeneration schemes, primary schools, and hotel developments across the UK. Known for their collaborative culture and commitment to technical excellence.

Requirements
  • Chartered Engineer (or working towards chartership) and member of a relevant professional body.
  • Strong technical background in Electrical Building Services design, construction and procurement.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams through design, procurement, and project delivery stages.
  • Strong client management skills and the ability to contribute to business development.
  • Sound working knowledge of BIM and understanding of CDM and health and safety legislation.
  • Proven ability to manage performance and coach junior team members.
