Company Overview:

Our client is a well-established refurbishment specialist proudly operating in the heart of London for over 30 years. With a reputation for excellence, quality and discretion, they have built a diverse and loyal client base across the prime residential, museum, gallery, listed building, heritage, private education and private healthcare sectors.

Role Overview:

Due to this continued growth and increasing design complexity of projects, the company is seeking a Bid Manager to join their pre-construction team in a dual role that combines traditional bid management responsibilities with a strong design coordination focus. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute and design-literate professional to take ownership of high-profile tenders and contribute to the continued evolution of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full bid lifecycle from initial enquiry through to submission.
  • Coordinate internal teams, supply chain partners, and consultants to produce compelling and accurate bids.
  • Analyse tender documents and lead bid strategy meetings.
  • Develop submission schedules, manage inputs, and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Prepare tender clarifications and respond to client queries.
  • Write, edit and tailor technical and commercial responses in line with client expectations.
  • Work closely with estimating, planning, and commercial teams to ensure competitive and compliant submissions.
  • Liaise with external consultants, architects, structural engineers, and internal teams to review and develop design proposals.
  • Ensure design solutions align with client briefs, technical requirements, and buildability considerations.
  • Identify design risks and opportunities and lead value engineering initiatives during pre-construction.
  • Coordinate design information for bid submissions, including narratives, logistics, methodology, and temporary works.
  • Act as a key liaison between the design and delivery teams to ensure seamless project handover post-award.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience in bid management within the construction sector.
  • Strong understanding of design and technical detailing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and project management abilities.
  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • A collaborative and proactive approach, with strong interpersonal skills.

What’s on Offer:

  • A pivotal role within a respected and stable company known for excellence in the London market.
  • Opportunity to influence the company’s pre-construction and design strategy.
  • Competitive salary package commensurate with experience.
  • Long-term career progression in a business that values and retains its people.
