The Opportunity: As a seasoned Mechanical Design Engineer you will also have some experience of Technical Authoring, to enable you to provide support to engineers and external customers on these unique and fascinating AUTOMOTIVE products. Your role will be to provide through life support between external customers and the internal design, test, production, logistics and technical support teams of this fascinating company. It is essential that the Design & Technical Author has a genuine passion for engineering and preferably a good knowledge of vehicles and automotive systems combined with a creative flair and good command of the written word.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support to Project Engineers and Design Engineers for influence of design and development of existing and future platforms for ease of support and the successful delivery of multiple projects.
  • Interface with customers to provide equipment support planning and management, and continuous improvement of product supportability through its complete lifecycle.
  • Support to Project Managers regarding ‘through life support’ project elements.
  • Advising on designs for supportability and maintainability.
  • Defining the maintenance and sparing requirements and the publications workflow.
  • Authoring of publications content in a Technical Authoring capacity (using Adobe), whilst producing technical illustrations using Solidworks (Autocad experience also considered).

Skills Required:

  • Automotive engineering experience or a strong interest in vehicles and how they work.
  • Good working knowledge of Engineering practices and procedures including document control.
  • Competent in reviewing documentation such as specifications, drawings, reports.
  • Good working knowledge of System Engineering practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of AESP publication standards, combined with a good working knowledge of Solidworks or similar CAD software.
