Role Purpose
The Quality Control Engineer is responsible for supporting and maintaining the quality management system, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and project-specific requirements. The role involves conducting quality assurance and control activities, including supplier and internal audits, dimensional inspections, and weld inspections.
The Quality Engineer will play a key role in identifying and resolving quality issues, helping to ensure continuous improvement, and supporting engineering, procurement and assets teams to maintain high standards of quality and compliance.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Performing supplier and internal audits in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 as a qualified internal auditor.
Conducting dimensional inspections and weld inspections on components and assemblies.
Reviewing engineering drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
Ensuring that all inspection and test activities are conducted in compliance with applicable standards and procedures.
Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and non-conformance investigations.
Working closely with suppliers and internal teams to resolve quality-related issues.
Maintaining records and reports related to quality control and assurance activities.
Assist in the development and review of quality procedures, work instructions, and forms.
Key Tasks
Lead and participate in supplier and internal audits to assess compliance with ISO 9001:2015.
Identify, document, and track non-conformances, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
Collaborate with manufacturing, procurement, and engineering teams to resolve quality issues.
Review supplier quality documentation, including Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), material certifications, and compliance reports.
Carry out dimensional and weld inspections using appropriate measurement tools and techniques.
Interpret and verify compliance of engineering drawings, specifications, and standards.
Maintain inspection documentation and quality records in accordance with company policies.
Support quality initiatives, including training and process improvements.
Manage and maintain the calibration system for all measurement and test equipment at Blyth Base, including maintaining up-to-date calibration records, track due dates, and coordination of calibration activities with internal teams and external calibration service providers.

Compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and internal quality management system requirements.
Timely completion and effectiveness of supplier and internal audits.
Reduction in repeat non-conformances (both supplier and internal) and improved corrective/preventive action effectiveness.

Essential Qualifications
Qualified internal auditor to ISO 9001:2015.
Certification in weld inspection (e.g., CSWIP 3.1, PCN Level 2, or equivalent).
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to perform root cause analysis.
Experience in dimensional inspection and use of precision measurement tools.
Strong understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
Desirable Qualifications or Equivalent Experience
Knowledge of subsea fabrication and manufacturing processes.
Experience with ERP or QMS software for quality management.
Familiarity with industry standards such as ISO 17025, ISO 10012, or similar calibration and metrology guidelines.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Demonstrable Experience Specific to Role
Proven experience in conducting weld and dimensional inspections.
Hands-on experience in supplier and internal auditing to ISO 9001:2015.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications accurately.
Experience in manufacturing, subsea, or heavy engineering industries preferred.
Willingness to travel to project sites and suppliers as required.
