Job Purpose:
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to respond to breakdowns and maintain site-wide electrical systems. The goal is to minimize engineering downtime and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Location: Macclesfield (SK10)
Job Type: Full-time, Rotating Shifts
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct all electrical engineering activities safely and professionally, ensuring compliance with current legislation and company policies.
- Perform planned maintenance, breakdown response, and statutory checks as required.
- Work closely with the Engineering Coordinator to prioritize workload and allocate resources effectively.
- Minimize engineering downtime by responding swiftly to issues and prioritizing tasks based on business needs.
- Complete shift reports, logging completed work and flagging ongoing issues for the next shift.
- Be available for emergency call-outs and additional hours when required.
- Improve machine availability and overall site efficiency.
- Oversee contractors, ensuring compliance with site induction, permits, and safety protocols.
- Adhere to health, safety, and environmental policies, employing permit-to-work and isolation systems when necessary.
- Ensure all electrical equipment can be safely isolated in accordance with legislation and best practices.
- Participate in business-related projects and initiatives, both engineering and non-engineering.

Person Specification:
The ideal candidate will be safety-conscious, proactive, and able to handle a demanding workload. Essential Knowledge & Experience:
- Proven breakdown experience in an engineering environment
- Strong understanding of electrical and general health & safety standards
- Technical fault-finding skills
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings
- Good computer skills
- Knowledge of pneumatic & hydraulic systems
- ONC Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification
- City & Guilds Level 1
- IEE Regulations knowledge
Desirable Skills & Certifications:
- Understanding of the paper coating industry
- Knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes
- Familiarity with Microsoft applications
- Experience with work maintenance systems
- PLC fault-finding knowledge
- First Aid Certificate
- Forklift and scissor lift license
