As a Mechanical Design Engineer – Robotics with a focus on Aerospace Manufacturing/R&T Engineering , you’ll be part of an innovative team working on state-of-the-art R&T projects. Your role will be pivotal in supporting mechanical design, tools, and DFMEA, all while collaborating with a dynamic group of engineers and partners.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Collaborating with Key Stakeholders: Engage with internal teams, external suppliers, and academic partners in a fast-paced, multi-functional setting.
- Innovative Process Development: Work closely with business units, program managers, and value streams to help mature new technologies and achieve preproduction milestones.
- Refining Mechanical Designs: Dive deep into mechanical design details, ensuring feasibility for tools, gantries, and interfaces.
- Accessibility Studies & Proposals: Lead the charge in analyzing manual processes and proposing design adaptations to enhance accessibility.
- Robotic System Optimization: Conduct reachability analysis to ensure robotic systems meet all operational targets.
- FEA & Structural Optimization: Perform structural analysis to optimize safety and efficiency, providing detailed FEA reports.
- Safety & Ergonomics Focus: Ensure designs align with ergonomic standards and safety reviews.
- Space Allocation Reports: Determine component space requirements and design optimal layouts for control cabinets, electrical systems, and more.
- End-of-Arm Tool Design: Innovate a cutting-edge inkjet printing tool for robotic applications.
- 3D Mech Design of Small Robot Dev. Station: Lead the design efforts for robotic stations, including inputs to DRA, FMEA, and O&M manuals.
- Tool Deformation Analysis: Study tool deformation across various orientations to maintain precision and accuracy.
- Cost Estimation & Planning: Help estimate non-recurring costs (NRC) and contribute to budgeting and resource planning.
- Delivering on Tight Deadlines: Manage time efficiently to meet project deliverables and milestones.
What You’ll Bring:
- Mechanical & Manufacturing Knowledge: Strong background in R&T environments and hands-on experience with engineering processes.
- Design Tools Expertise: Proficiency with CATIA V5 and 3DX to develop precise mechanical designs.
- Engineering Manufacturing Experience: Ability to interpret engineering drawings and Catia models, with hands-on experience in part manufacturing and testing.
- Holistic Value Chain Understanding: Experience across materials, design, manufacturing, and testing to assess and implement cutting-edge technologies.
- Problem-Solving Mindset: A methodical and logical approach to tackling challenges in mechanical design.
- FMEA Expertise: Awareness of PFMEA and DFMEA processes to identify and mitigate risks.
