We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Whittlesey Block team in the position of Electrical Lead .
The role holder will actively and safely participate in maintenance activities and supervision, offering electrical expertise and knowledge. They will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems in a factory setting, with a strong emphasis on PLCs and inverters.
The role holder will also be responsible for promptly and effectively addressing electrical malfunctions and breakdowns to ensure the plant’s continuity and productivity. This will be done in alignment with Forterra’s current Health and Safety policies, while also supporting the achievement of output and quality targets. This position is critical to ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment and systems.
Your duties would include but not be limited to the following:
- Electrical Maintenance and Repair
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on electrical systems and equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical issues to minimize downtime and ensure uninterrupted factory operations.
- PLC Programming and Troubleshooting
- Install, program, and maintain PLC systems to optimize manufacturing processes.
- Diagnose and resolve faults within PLC hardware and software systems.
- Update and modify PLC programs as required to improve efficiency or accommodate production changes.
- Install, configure, and maintain variable frequency drives (VFDs) and inverters for motors and other equipment.
- Diagnose and repair inverter-related faults to ensure equipment operates efficiently.
- Electrical Installation
- Install and upgrade electrical panels, wiring, and other components to meet operational and safety standards.
- Ensure all electrical installations comply with local and national regulations.
- Compliance and Safety
- Adhere to health and safety standards, identifying and mitigating electrical hazards.
- Maintain documentation for electrical systems, including risk assessments and compliance reports.
- Work closely with production and engineering teams to address electrical issues and improve system performance.
- Provide guidance and support to other technicians when necessary.

- Appropriate engineering qualification to C&G or ONC/HNC/HND/Degree level
- Able to work in a team, as well as independently
