Engineering Manager

We are recruiting for an experienced Engineering Manager, to be based in our East Midlands Regional Office in Hinckley, Leicestershire. You’ll play a crucial role in maintaining the already high standards of this family-run business. With your proven experience as a manager and Civil Engineer, you’ll guide the team to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and conditions, whilst we support you with high-quality training, great benefits, and long-term career progression opportunities. MAIN DUTIES

  1. Preparing viability and detailed designs to establish a satisfactory resolution of engineering issues.
  2. Carrying out practical economical Section 38 and 104 designs to adoptable standards and supplying a package of information to the Commercial Department for tender purposes.
  3. Work with the appointed Environmental and Geotechnical Consultants to provide solutions to foundation and contamination issues.
  4. Liaising with Designers in relation to the development of housing layouts with a view to offering advice on SUDs and value engineering.
  5. Assisting in the production of site appraisals.
  6. Developing road and sewer designs with the approving bodies in order to solve all associated engineering issues.
  7. Preparing/co-ordinating external levels drawings and private drainage drawings.
  8. Briefing and managing the Foundation Design Consultant.
  9. Assembling and delivering the civil engineering package.
  10. Discharging engineering related and building related issues.
  11. Assisting in the discharge of engineering related planning conditions.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES

  1. Experience of working for a house builder or consultancy in a similar role.
  2. HNC or HND level qualified.
  3. Experience and knowledge of planning policy and procedures.
  4. Knowledge of urban design requirements for local councils, technical standards for highways and water authorities.
  5. Microsoft Office skillset.
  6. Design software experience i.e. AutoCAD.
  7. Motivational and self-determined.
  8. ‘Team player’ attitude.
  9. Effective communication skills.
  10. Diligent time management.
  11. Ability to manage a team of engineers.
  12. Ability to mentor and lead team members.
