We are currently looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to work for one of our clients in Burton on Trent.
The client is a market-leading manufacturer of specialist equipment to a range of industry sectors including heavy engineering and aerospace.
Due to the specialist nature of the products, the work is both interesting and varied and will include working on the design and creation of large-scale fabrications and structures together with associated pipework and equipment.
Based in their offices in Burton on Trent, but with a requirement to travel to customers both in the UK and overseas as required, it will include the generation of engineering diagrams for use on their equipment and will involve working on specific projects from conception to completion.

Main Duties:

  1. 2D and 3D engineering design proposal drawings
  2. General Arrangement drawings
  3. Fabrication details drawings
  4. Pipework layouts and manufacturing drawings

The successful candidate must have a proven track record of working within a mechanical design environment, ideally on large plant or machinery or metal fabrications/structural steelwork. They must also be qualified to a minimum of HNC in a relevant discipline, although a degree is preferred, and have experience of using Inventor iLogic and both 2D and 3D CAD.

In addition to this experience, it is essential that applicants have been involved in the production of metal fabrication drawings and some, if not all, of the following:

  1. The design and detailing of mechanical engineering products/projects
  2. Conceptual Designs
  3. General Arrangements and Layouts
  4. Fabrication Drawings
  5. Pipework layouts and details
  6. Compliance with international standards
  7. Coordination drawings for installation civil engineering contractors
