Trainee Rotating Equipment Engineer

This is a great opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join a dynamic team and develop their engineering career. Working alongside the Rotating Equipment Managers, you will gain new skills and assist in improving the availability, reliability, and performance of all high-speed rotating equipment. You will also be assisting in the planning and delivery of major work scopes. This position is Monday to Friday with a mix of field and office-based working; hands-on skills are expected.

As a trainee position, there will be ample opportunity for learning and development, but some prior knowledge, both hands-on and theoretical, of high-speed rotating equipment and support systems is beneficial.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  1. Assist with planned maintenance activities for all rotating equipment as directed by Rotating Equipment Managers.
  2. Attend vendor co-ordination meetings, project HAZOPs, and design review meetings.
  3. Assist with drafting of project commissioning procedures and review of vendors’ machinery test procedures, including witness testing.
  4. Assist with repair and overhaul of both onshore and offshore high-speed rotating equipment, including control of vendors executing works.
  5. Assist with drafting and continuously refine high-speed rotating equipment maintenance strategies, including machinery specific basic care requirements, planned maintenance tasks and condition-based monitoring.
  6. Assist with the development and application of gas turbine and compressor performance monitoring programs.
  7. Assist with failure mode analysis of all high-speed rotating equipment.
  8. Carry out critical spare’s reviews for all high-speed rotating equipment.
  9. Carry out and maintain tooling inventories to ensure all rotating equipment tooling (including specialised) is inventoried, serviceable, and calibrated as appropriate.
  10. Assist with updating maintenance management systems to ensure maintenance planning and execution information is current & accurate.
  11. Responsible for maintaining and developing personal competency, to identify training needs to support the key tasks identified.
  12. Ensure and promote the highest levels of compliance with all health, safety, and environmental legislation.

Key Requirements:

  1. Engineering Degree or HNC/HND in a relevant field and or relevant experience.
  2. Knowledge and experience of the support and maintenance of high-speed rotating equipment.
  3. Have a passion for Engineering and a curiosity to learn about Rotating Equipment.
  4. Creative and innovative thinker, ability to think outside of the box and provide solutions.
  5. Self-starter, desire to self-learn and research information.
