Quality Engineer – 12 month FTC
- £35,000 – £40,000 + excellent benefits
- 12 Month FTC – Likely to go permanent
- Chelmsford, Essex
We are a global leader in specialised components and subsystems for innovative solutions in medical, science, aerospace, defence and industrial applications.
The imaging sensors developed and tested at the Chelmsford site have been used on humanity’s most important space imaging missions. These include the Hubble Telescope, Kepler, GAIA, Mars Rovers, New Horizons, and Rosetta, to name but a few.
Position Summary and Responsibilities:
The Quality Engineer role is hands-on to support all business aspects, including Manufacturing and driving improvement and efficiency. The Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that issues are dealt with effectively, and appropriate Root Cause and Corrective Action is applied.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Inspection for Incoming components to ensure that quality standards are maintained.
- Non-Conformance Management and Improvement Activity.
- Leading investigations on both internal issues and customer complaints/returns.
- Support customer meetings alongside Product Engineering.
- Perform Internal Audits to ensure that business processes are effective.
- Support Audit activity for annual ISO 9001 audits.
- Quality approval of Delivery Review Boards.
- Attendance of the Change Control Boards.
- Approval of Change requests.
- Process Release oversight and approval.
- Carrying out Electro Static Discharge and Code of Practice Training.
- Review, approval and closure management of Permits and concessions.
Skills & Experience Essential Qualifications:
- Higher technical education, i.e., HNC or above.
- Quality-related work experience in a manufacturing company.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001.
- Strong analytical skills to identify the source of problems.
- Good MS Office skills; experience in SAP is beneficial.
- Good communication skills to liaise effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Lean Six Sigma.
- 8D problem solving.
