Neighbourhood Development Worker
30 hours per week
Permanent; Part Time
£23,512 (£28,998 p.a. full-time equivalent), pay review (increase) pending
Voluntary Action Rotherham is the lead body for supporting, developing and promoting the voluntary and community sector in the Rotherham Borough. Our role is to facilitate effective action to bring about positive change in the lives of individuals and communities in the local area.
The primary purpose of this role will be to work with local people, voluntary and community groups and empower them to find solutions to local issues through effective community action in the delivery of the single infrastructure grant contract. As well as providing help and assistance to groups and individuals who want to set up or maintain community groups, this role will offer support on appropriate organisational structures and development needs as well as working in local neighbourhoods to help groups to implement action plans to support their aims and objectives.
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience in community development, either in a paid or unpaid capacity
- Was involved with statutory/voluntary organisations in addressing community issues
- Understand social issues and their local impact
- Knowledge of funding regimes and their requirements
- An understanding and commitment to developing and maintaining partnership working is essential
- The ability to organise, plan and prioritise their work using their own initiative
Some evening and weekend work may be necessary to fulfil the duties of this post.
An intrinsic part of the role is to travel throughout the Borough on a regular basis, therefore, it is essential that applicants have access to their own transport.
