To support this mission, we are seeking a passionate ESG Data Analyst to join our team. This individual will play a crucial role in driving positive change by building, maintaining, and analyzing data that is essential for achieving business targets, enhancing our ESG strategy, improving processes, and ensuring accurate reporting.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Developing, maintaining, and continuously improving ESG data systems on health & nutrition, packaging, waste management, and carbon.
- Supporting the development and delivery of Asda’s healthy and sustainable choices strategy by building relevant datasets, analysing key trends, and surfacing insights to inform the ESG strategy.
- Making evidence-based recommendations from complex analyses to identify market opportunities, support proposition development, and build business cases.
- Delivering compelling communication and data visualization to engage stakeholders across the business at all levels.
- Updating all internal ESG KPIs and supporting engagement with business units.
- Managing data collection, analysis, and report preparation for external reporting requirements on carbon, packaging, nutrition, and waste management.
- Engaging with colleagues and key stakeholders to embed sustainability into Asda’s business processes and culture.
- Supporting business readiness for compliance with various ESG legislation.
- Supporting the evolution of health and ESG data systems in the context of Asda’s data transformation.

- Bachelor’s/ Master’s degree in a numerate discipline, with a passion for complex numerical challenges
- Proven experience in data and analysis; preferably as a data analyst/ strategy analyst/ market analyst/ commercial analyst; Academicians are welcome to apply
- Proficiency in SQL and Excel; Experience with data tools such as Databricks, Tableau, Power BI, or similar
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
- Problem-solving skills and experience of working on multifaceted, ambiguous challenges
- Able to work collaboratively with other team members/stakeholders in the business.
- Self-starter who works well independently, as well as across stakeholder groups of all levels across the organisation
- Project management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Desirable:
- Experience of working with health/ ESG data, and/or on development of ESG strategy
- Data visualisation
- Awareness on health and sustainability fundamentals (such as Nutrient Profiling Model, carbon accounting, packaging and waste management)
