Our client has a requirement for a Senior Planner / Planning Manager, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Manchester.

Role Purpose:

To support key stakeholders in defining and capturing the project work scope, ensuring alignment with customer requirements. This includes the development, maintenance, and analysis of project schedules to ensure successful project delivery within time, cost, and quality parameters.

Job Role Responsibilities:

  • Develop Product Breakdown Structure (PBS), Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Statement of Work (SOW), and Basis of Estimate (BOE).
  • Ensure all schedules are generated, maintained, and updated in line with the planning cycle.
  • Identify schedule impact issues and proactively seek solutions while maintaining baseline constraints.
  • Coordinate Live Progress Update sessions to capture accurate project status updates.
  • Produce monthly management reports covering milestone slippage, critical path analysis, resource availability, float erosion, and schedule risks.
  • Conduct schedule variance analysis and trigger exception reports where necessary.
  • Implement Earned Value Management (EVM) techniques as required.

Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:

  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline.
  • Strong experience in Project Controls / Reporting.
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts and civils construction.
  • Security clearance for Airports required.
  • Proficiency in scheduling software, particularly Primavera P6.
  • Understanding of project management in a complex environment using an Integrated Management System (IMS).
  • Awareness of (or willingness to learn) Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Ability to deliver accurate work within monthly reporting cycles, prioritising project deadlines effectively.
  • Contractor experience preferred but not essential.
  • Proactive and confident in engaging with key stakeholders to build strong relationships.
