Who You’ll Work With
You will be a core member of McKinsey’s Geopolitics team. You will sit in our firm’s Reach and Engagement function whose mission is to ensure that appropriate insights on geopolitics reach key internal and client audiences, building awareness and engagement with our capabilities and knowledge. You will also work closely with and as part of the firm’s Geopolitics Practice that helps our clients translate the implications of geopolitical scenarios to business decision making and value creation. You will report to Partner and Global Director of Geopolitics and will be based in North America.

Your Impact
You will work closely with colleagues across our firm, stewarding our geopolitics ecosystem of insights, including our firm’s Geopolitics Advisory Council and network of partner firms. You will support client activation on geopolitics by curating, developing, and disseminating key materials for Practice leadership and client service teams. Additionally, you will contribute to our thought leadership pipeline by working on signature publications on geopolitics. Your role will involve strengthening our firm’s internal capabilities by developing analytical products on key geopolitical developments that impact our firm. Furthermore, you will counsel and support our firm’s leadership and other functions on scenarios and strategic reviews related to geopolitics.

Your Qualifications and Skills

  • 8+ years of professional experience in fields such as international affairs, public policy, consulting, corporate communications, journalism.
  • Ability to scope and drive strategic projects end-to-end in close partnership with other teams with agility and an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Ability to counsel senior leaders on geopolitical developments, strategic implications and policy guidance and to develop trust-based relationships.
  • Commitment to a collaborative team environment and apprenticeship.
  • Strong external network from which to source strategic insights and partners.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills – working on complex, sensitive, time-critical issues, quickly getting up to speed on unfamiliar topics.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment by prioritizing and balancing competing, time-urgent demands and geographies.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills, including clear and concise writing and editorial skills, with strong personal presence and credibility.
