The finance team is central to partnering with business leaders to provide accurate, timely and quality information to support their growth plans.
About the Role:
To work closely with senior divisional management to drive and improve business performance, through providing constructive tension into decisions, delivering financial and commercial support, ensuring strong governance and compliance and giving insight into business performance.
The appointed candidate should work with key stakeholders in the business to shape and set direction in line with the organisations structure and goals whilst keeping in line with the finance structure and goals.
Your Part to Play:
Commercial Finance and Decision Support
- To be the finance support for the C&C Division, covering all financial areas e.g., P&L, Balance Sheet and cashflow
- Provision of insightful and consistent support to inform and drive business decisions that demonstrably improve NPV’s, margins, cashflows and mitigate risk
- Develop best practice for corporate governance around business case approval, to include sales bids, capex requirements, supplier renegotiations
- Effective management of the legal and commercial aspects of any bid or tender, including bid pricing
- Proactively performance manage, challenge and influence senior management to maximise business performance
- Lead monthly review meetings to assess performance with the supported Division
- Be involved where appropriate in customer/ supplier negotiations and relationships
- Ensure that interlock is achieved between Sales and operations in respect of resourcing, including involvement in resourcing models and sign off of hiring requests.
- To drive procurement savings on in life business and new business.
- Advice on revenue recognition and WIP for complex projects
MI
- Preparation of monthly Divisional Business Review Pack
- Development and preparation of MI, KPI’s and dashboards – as far as possible based on automated PowerBi outputs
- Standardise reports and minimise ad hoc reporting
Analysis
- Based on an inquisitive mind-set analyse business performance and ask the “what if “questions e.g., should we continue with a product, are sales resources appropriately distributed etc.
- Develop customer and project profitability for new and in life activity
- Review organisational structure and effectiveness
- Review and understand the sales pipeline, to ensure it is accurate, and identify themes e.g., win rates, reasons for losses etc.
Forecasting
- Run the Divisions budgeting and forecasting (short to long term) process and related models
- development of sensitivity analysis
M&A
- To be involved as required in M&A activity
Other
- Represent Finance and work on IT system implementations e.g. PowerBI reports, Sales CRM reports
- Currency effects and potential hedging requirements
- Identify areas for process and systems improvement

- Proven track record with significant commercial and finance experience
- Track record in driving business performance
- Excellent relationship building skills
- Excellent influencing skills
- Good understanding of the IT market and competitors/suppliers

- This is a complex role in respect of personal relationships and being the finance support for an area, whilst ensuring appropriate governance and control is in place. It therefore requires a person who has strong interpersonal skills, but also has the ability to hold their ground when under pressure.
