Job Description

As the Fire Doors Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing important legal documents relating to projects and ensuring that any issues which arise are resolved as quickly and effectively as possible.

The role will also include the financial monitoring alongside our Commercial team and control of project contracts alongside the operational delivery of each project. Ensuring Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality compliance is maintained and that CLM’s procedures and objectives are achieved.

Reporting into the Fire Doors Operations Manager, the Contracts Manager will have oversight of onsite Supervisors and Operatives.

The Team

As a Contracts Manager, you will be part of the Operational team. You will have the responsibility to build your team to deliver the projects set by Senior Management. You will be required to take full responsibility for the running of all projects in your workstream.

Key Responsibilities

The tasks you will be responsible for include (but not limited to):

  1. Act as the main point of contact for clients, site and Commercial/Account Managers
  2. Plan projects and ensure that they are programmed to a level of detail necessary for the site team to deliver without delays
  3. Ensure procurement and reconciliation of materials is carried out in accordance with CLM’s procedures to best value and to prevent delays
  4. Attend tender handover meetings and deliver pre-start meetings to the site team
  5. Produce and analyse progress reports, updated costs, estimating budgets and timescales
  6. Discuss, draft, review and negotiate the terms of business contracts
  7. Ensure correct commercial engagement of subcontractors
  8. Ensure a commercial plan and end of life forecast is in place and monitored monthly for the successful commercial delivery of the project
  9. Ensure weekly review of progress, budget resources and forward planning are carried out
  10. Complete and distribute the Contract Initiation/Completion form for each project
  11. Ensure timely management of both temporary and permanent design to meet the requirements of each project
  12. Liaise with manufacturers to provide suitable details for all installations
  13. Build a team capable to deliver all projects provided by the business
  14. Ensure construction projects meet agreed technical standards

Client Relations

  1. Build and maintain relationships with both the client and external customers
  2. Chair and lead meetings with the customer and report on progress to date
  3. Ensure that works are carried out in a manner which minimises community impact

Safeguarding & De-risking

  1. Ensure site team’s compliance with CLM policies and procedures, including H&S responsibilities
  2. Implement the risk management process, review risk register and check risk controls
  3. Participate in relevant training programmes
  4. Keep abreast of latest trends and developments
  5. Deliver projects without safety incidents, within time and to budget
  6. Liaise with manufacturers to ensure fully tested details are provided for each systems install

Teamwork

  1. Work collaboratively with the Contracts Team and relevant departments to develop accurate and consistent approach to achieve objectives
  2. Promote company and service excellence throughout the full commercial lifecycle
  3. Support other members of the wider Operations Team where required
  4. Contribute towards building and maintaining a positive workplace for all CLM staff

Essential

  1. Proven experience in managing projects, preferably within passive fireproofing industry
  2. Strong capability of planning, prioritising and meeting deadlines, with demonstrable experience of working under pressure tight deadlines and managing a high workload with conflicting priorities
  3. Good working knowledge of contract conditions, regulations and risk management
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills with enthusiasm for and experience in cultivating lasting relationships as well as strong desire to support the team
  5. Ability to work autonomously and as a part of a team
  6. Strong communication skills (verbal, written and listening): an ability to present information concisely, to communicate in a manner applicable to all levels
  7. Ability to demonstrate initiative and flexibility, particularly in a fast-paced environment
  8. Numerate, strong attention to detail with a commitment to high standards
  9. Ability to adapt to the changing demands of a growing company
  10. Ability to resolve problems and queries efficiently
  11. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Packages (especially Excel), SharePoint and willingness to learn multiple software systems
  12. Ability to work effectively with and value of diverse groups of individuals
  13. A genuine interest and strong commitment to CLM Fireproofing’s mission and customer excellence

In addition, there are a few desirable skills for this role which could help you to standout. Great if you already have them, but we don’t expect any candidate to have them all, and we’ll provide training as required for the right candidate.

  1. Conversant with the construction sector and passive fireproofing
  2. Knowledge of laws/regulations and industry trends
  3. Knowledge of OneTrace software

Working Hours: 37.5 per week (8:00am – 4:00pm)
