Principal Ecologist
Our client is seeking an enthusiastic Principal Ecologist to join their growing team and contribute to a variety of exciting and impactful projects across the UK. Our ecologists work on a broad range of developments, delivering innovative solutions that benefit biodiversity, clients, and society.
This role offers the chance to be part of nationally significant and award-winning projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and engaging with stakeholders. With a strong focus on knowledge sharing, sustainability, and innovation, we aim to deliver meaningful ecological enhancements.

Key Responsibilities:
- Leading nationally significant infrastructure projects, managing timelines and budgets.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and engaging with stakeholders.
- Planning, coordinating, and conducting ecological field surveys, interpreting results using tools such as biodiversity net gain and natural capital assessments.
- Designing and overseeing ecological mitigation strategies.
- Writing and reviewing ecological reports and protected species licence applications.
- Managing client relationships, responding to project inquiries, and contributing to bid proposals.
What We\’re Looking For:
- Membership (or application in progress) with the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).
- A degree in ecology, environmental science, or a related field.
- Strong ecological knowledge, either as a species specialist or generalist.
- Experience with commercial project delivery and budget management.
- FISC Level 4 accreditation (desirable but not essential).
- Natural England/Natural Resources Wales bat survey licence Level 2 (desirable but not essential).
- A valid UK driving licence.
