Cyber Security Director – Consultancy Experience

My client, an International Consultancy, is looking for a Cyber Security Director to join their growing team based in London.

About the Cyber Security Director position:

This is a Director role to lead my client’s go-to-market approach for cyber security services with a focus on Financial Services (FS). A key emphasis of the role will be on originating and leading the delivery of cyber security engagements to clients and contributing to the leadership of our FS cyber security business.

The Director role will be responsible for the following areas:

  • Working collaboratively with the leadership team of the FS cyber security business, my client’s cyber security capability leads, and alliance partners to deliver the cyber security business plan for banking clients.
  • Growing their current footprint to meet market demand and clients’ issues, whilst exploiting the adjacencies across our current engagements.
  • Building relationships with other parts of the firm (e.g., cloud, data, technology transformation, technology risk) to bind offerings together.
  • Actively contributing to relationships with their strategic alliance partners to drive collaboration and sales opportunities.
  • Leading and maintaining their people capability by managing and developing the technical skills of the team and growing their team.
  • Originating and leading on sales opportunities.
  • Developing relationships internally and externally to build a pipeline of opportunities and/or sell engagements to clients.
  • Leading the delivery of security engagements.
  • Defining the people requirements (e.g., skills, experience, etc.) to strengthen their team of cyber security resources and to lead the recruitment of these resources.

Reporting to the Lead Cyber Security Partner for FS, the Director role involves:

  • Taking accountability for the delivery of FS cyber security engagements and leading multiple engagements on a day-to-day basis with the assistance of Senior Managers/Managers in the team.
  • Being responsible for expanding their cyber security services in the FS sector.
  • Providing leadership and collaborating with people across the coverage groups on the cyber security services to deliver a clear and unified strategy.
  • Leading FS sales origination/business development initiatives and acting as an integral part of the broader Technology and Cyber Security leadership team.
  • Contributing to the overall FS cyber security strategy by identifying where there are opportunities for growth and developing the strategy to capitalize on cyber security risk opportunities in this sector.
  • Building and managing excellent networks and client relationships (typically at CIO, CRO, COO, CISO or Head of Technology level) across a range of FS organisations.
  • Actively identifying and progressing FS business development opportunities, as well as managing sales activities such as responding to RFPs, bid management, proposal writing, and client presentations.
  • Developing internal networks and maintaining excellent relationships with colleagues across KPMG.
  • Coaching and developing team members as part of our overall performance management process or on specific engagements.
  • Contributing to practice management e.g., training, knowledge management, thought leadership, etc.
  • Travelling in the UK to regional offices and in particular regularly attending the Canary Wharf offices; and travelling in the UK or internationally supporting client delivery where required.
  • Acting in line with my client’s values at all times.

The Person

  • Experience of working in the Financial Services sector including working with large, global organisations.
  • Experience of working at the senior level as a cyber security subject matter expert.
  • Experience and knowledge of working in the banking sector.
  • Commercially aware and with industry relationships that will enable achievement of revenue in the region of £1.5+ million per year.
  • Wide industry exposure with a depth of technical security knowledge and experience in cyber security.
  • Experience and knowledge of the regulatory environment facing clients in the FS sector; with a particular focus on technology, cyber security, and privacy relevant regulations.
  • Proven experience of successfully leading, managing, and delivering cyber security and technology advisory, transformation and managed services to large/medium, multi-national clients.
  • Proven experience of delivering cyber security advice.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain technical issues to a non-technical audience, extensive relevant sales experience, negotiation, and project management skills.
  • Sound understanding of risk management in a professional services environment.
