Description
Potter Clarkson is a great place to train and work as a Patent Attorney within our Biotechnology team. Our recruitment focus is on identifying the candidates with the potential to grow and succeed as world leading IP professionals. We are a fully inclusive employer and invest heavily in our EDI and wellness of the team.

We are one of the largest full-service intellectual property practices in Europe, with over 80 patent and trade mark professionals and over 10 IP solicitors, who are expertly assisted by over 100 support staff working together in our Nottingham, London, Copenhagen, Aarhus and Stockholm offices.

The firm is consistently ranked in the top tier of major legal guides, such as Legal 500 and MIP. Unlike most UK patent and trade mark firms, we also hold three independent ISO accreditations which show the high level of service provision, information security and environmental awareness that we have.

The formula for our success is simple. We recruit the very best people, provide continuous ongoing support in-house and invest heavily in their training and personal development to produce outstanding patent and trade mark professionals. The organisation and infrastructure of the firm and its dedicated support staff equip our experts with all they need to apply their skills efficiently and deliver exceptional service to clients.

Training and qualification as a patent attorney requires hard work and dedication. To excel you need many talents: strong scientific understanding, excellent language skills and commercial acumen. It may seem daunting, but we can make your training experience varied, challenging and rewarding.

Our comprehensive and highly-regarded training programme delivers remarkable success in professional examinations, with candidates from the firm winning prizes on numerous occasions.

We are committed to promoting a healthy work-life balance and supporting the wellbeing of all our people. We offer a wealth of health and wellbeing benefits and resources, including healthcare, flexible working options, a virtual wellbeing hub, mental health first aiders and a mentorship program.

If you are ready to join an amazing team, we’d love to hear from you.

The Role
The role of a patent attorney is varied. We work with a vast range of clients to secure patent protection, locally and globally, which involves regular client interaction, scoping inventions and determining how they can be best used to gain a strategic advantage.
