As a technical solution architect, you report to the Architecture Manager and are part of the Architecture team responsible for all architectural design, development, and deployment of secure solutions to meet business requirements.
The technical solution architect will work closely with multiple Development Teams, ensuring that best-in-class development practices are followed, focusing on getting the most out of our Content Management platform.
This is a technical role with a chance to get hands-on, developing POCs to demonstrate excellence in software design and development, always looking to strike the right balance between quality and delivery pressures. You will assist the Teams with maintaining code quality and act as a guide and mentor for new and emerging platform features.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop, own and drive the architecture strategy across multiple platforms, with a focus on delivering content across multiple digital media.
- Design and develop solutions that are elegant, secure, robust, performant, and cost-effective, focusing on maximising the business value from our investment in the Adobe suite of products and other strategic partners.
- Analyse technical requirements to determine system design, identify potential issues and opportunities to reuse and improve the existing code base, and integration points with other systems.
- Work with the Engineering teams to develop and maintain engineering standards in place and promote to the wider Telegraph development community.
- Work closely with the rest of the Architecture team to establish standards, policies, and procedures across the Technology organisation.
- Work closely with the Product team and other key stakeholders to elicit and refine requirements.
- Understand how to write high-quality, clean, and performant code, practice TDD, and follow best practices.
- Keep up to date with the latest technologies and methodologies to ensure The Telegraph stays ahead of the game.
- Be an active member of the Telegraph Engineering Team, contributing to the vibrant culture and promoting the Telegraph Engineering brand through public channels such as open-source community, blogs, and meetups.
Technical Skills Required for the Role
- Knowledge of content delivery at scale such as CDN and edge technologies.
- Experience with developing production-level projects using Object Oriented and/or Functional programming languages and frameworks with a sound understanding of front-end technologies.
- Expert in the design of developer-friendly APIs.
- Knowledge of software design patterns such as GoF and SOLID with the ability to explain designs using these approaches.
- Creation of comprehensive technical documentation that can be given to developers.
