We are strengthening our team advising clients on network regulation issues and are looking for a management consultant at our Principal level. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual with a strong track record and who is interested in playing a crucial role in advising clients in energy and infrastructure sectors.
In this role, you will have an exciting opportunity to provide your leadership to the energy transition by supporting private and public organisations in making challenging yet fair and sustainable investment decisions that will accelerate their response to climate change.
As a leader, you will grow and shape the business, expand our global strategy and specifically our Regulatory and Networks business, as well as being a career manager for other management consultants in our business thereby developing our future talent. You will have your own sales targets and so be responsible for strengthening long-term client relationships, maximising current and future engagement profitability, and contributing to our business development strategy.
You should have previous experience of network regulation with industry, regulatory bodies or consultancy and have specific understanding of regulatory frameworks across some or all transmission and distribution businesses, interconnectors and energy storage. You will thrive in this role if you build long term and trust-based relationships with clients.
Partial or related experience is always valued and so we encourage you to apply and explain more about your experience in your covering letter.
We offer an inspiring environment, with a collaborative and friendly approach with its foundations in flexible working. We pride ourselves on having a good work-life balance.
Qualifications
We are looking for great people to join our team of energy market consultants based in Oxford or London, which also supports our wider network of over 20 offices on five continents.
Our Principals are confident and enthusiastic management consultants. We expect you to have the following experience (but we don’t expect anyone to tick every box):
- Leading client engagements in the planning and operation of electricity transmission and distribution networks and the connection of distributed generation in GB and the wider European context.
- Using your knowledge of GB industry codes and charging methodologies, and ideally of smart metering and micro generation to shape client projects.
- Successfully implementing change management, economic and financial analysis and policy development work.
- A strong level of motivation to take the initiative in business development to develop new consultancy business with Government departments, Regulators and energy companies.
- Designing, creating, writing, and editing clear and engaging proposals, presentations and reports in Word and PowerPoint that demonstrate a high level of visual and written skill as a communicator.
- Championing knowledge management and the ‘circular knowledge economy’ by supporting and improving the way we and our clients capture, re-use and repurpose our knowledge assets.
As we work globally, we value those who are multi-lingual, so please do let us know your level in any language in which you have spoken and/or written ability, and any experience that you have in energy markets around the world. For individuals looking for international experience, there may be opportunities to lead projects in other regions of the world.
We undertake a lot of complex analysis, a good proportion of which is numerical, so we are looking for people with an aptitude for quantitative and qualitative analysis.
