Position: Consultant Anaesthetist
Location: Bath
Pay: up to £130,000 plus benefits and enhancements
Hours: 30 – 40 hours per week (Flexibility is available)

Meditalent is seeking a skilled Consultant Anaesthetist to join a modern, efficient hospital based in Bath. You will be part of a dedicated clinical team that prioritises high standards of care, working together to achieve excellence.
As a Consultant Anaesthetist, you will deliver comprehensive anaesthetic care focusing on various specialties, including Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, ENT, and Urology. The role primarily involves elective procedures, with the possibility of responding to postoperative complications requiring return to theatre.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality anaesthetic care to patients.
- Support a wide variety of surgical specialities, with a primary focus on Orthopaedics. Other specialties include General Surgery, Gynaecology, ENT, and Urology.
- Engage in clinical governance, audit processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work collaboratively within a team-based environment, contributing to a positive workplace culture.
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the service, patients, and colleagues.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Full GMC registration with specialist registration in anaesthesia.
- Strong experience in providing anaesthesia across multiple specialities, particularly Orthopaedics.
- Commitment to high-quality patient care and safety.
- Proficient in clinical audits and governance.
- Strong communication and team-working skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer anaesthesia for patients undergoing surgical procedures.
- Ensure the safety and comfort of patients throughout surgery.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to design and implement individualised anaesthetic plans.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and adjust anaesthesia levels as needed to ensure optimal patient care during surgery.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Experienced in handling a variety of surgical cases and specialties.
- Skilled in-patient monitoring and adjusting anaesthetic levels as required.
- Confident in working as part of a dedicated healthcare team.
Requirements:
- Full GMC Registration: Must hold full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC). Inclusion on the Specialist Register for Anaesthesia.
- Experience: Proven experience working as a Consultant Anaesthetist. Minimum of two years of Consultant-level experience within the UK. Extensive training and practical experience in anaesthesia, with a broad exposure to different cases.
- Expertise: Capable of providing expert clinical opinions across a range of anaesthetic conditions. Demonstrates independent practice in delivering anaesthetic services, including making decisions and managing patients without direct supervision.
- UK Medical Professional: Must be a UK-registered medical professional listed on the Specialist GMC register. Documented evidence of speciality training and qualifications in anaesthesia.
