An opportunity has arisen in the Engineering organisation for a talented and experienced Senior Electronics Engineer to join our Devices team.

We are seeking a dynamic, self-motivated and tenacious individual educated to degree level in Electronic Engineering, plus relevant experience.

Location: Dundee (Hybrid)

Primary Compensation Basis Range: 52,000.00 – 65,000.00 – 78,000.00 GBP Annual

The successful applicant will work as part of a highly motivated development team working to meet quality, cost and schedule targets across a range of devices inside the product.

The incumbent will play a pivotal role in the development of MCU based embedded systems, PCBA design, debug and analysis including helping to define future best practices and system architecture specifications alongside the wider team in their capacity as a Senior Electronics Architect. This is a senior role requiring a thorough understanding and background in electronics, systems architecture design and experience developing MCU or Microprocessor based designs.

In addition to these duties, there will be regular interaction with cross functional development teams, opportunity to provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, work in defining and updating design standards documentation and testing of electronic circuit and board designs.

Experience in PCB layout design and embedded firmware is beneficial.

Key Responsibilities:

Main development responsibilities shall include, but will not be restricted to:

  • Design, develop and document microprocessor and microcontroller-based PCB assemblies.
  • Generating schematic drawings, BOM, Gerber package, design and test documentation.
  • Conducting hardware unit test, as well as supporting integration and systems testing.
  • Coordinate estimates of effort, schedule, and size of change to the relevant Project Manager.
  • Regular progress reporting on schedule, quality and development progress.
  • Support for existing devices through technical investigation and resolution.
  • Proficiency in PCB soldering and board debug skills.
  • Collaborating with mechanical engineers to define and verify requirements.
  • Collaborating with other electronics design engineers to define system architecture and development best practices.
