The predicted salary is between 44000 - 60000 £ per year.

Base Location: Oban, Argyll & Bute and Dunoon

Salary: £52,285 – £68,098 + overtime + car / car allowance + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

We have a new opportunity for an Operations Engineer to join our team in supporting our Net Zero goals. Reporting directly to the Lead Operations Engineer, you would co-ordinate the safe and efficient delivery of work activities on our transmission network assets.

You will

  1. Plan, schedule and resource successful delivery and reporting of inspection & maintenance activities.
  2. Represent Operations interests and assist in capital project delivery, ensuring safe and effective delivery of new asset substations, cables and overhead lines.
  3. Manage electrical outages, safety and setting work to various asset types. Assets such as: substation plant, underground cables and overhead lines.
  4. Support all scheduled and emergency activities i.e. response and rectification of system faults shall be carried out to the latest internal policies and procedures. This will also require an understanding of our statutory requirements and the ability to interpret and action manufacturer instruction.
  5. Lead and promote a safe working environment and culture throughout the team, including being comfortable in challenging any unsafe behaviours or attitudes, engaging with them positively about safety.

You have

  1. A minimum HNC or working towards, equivalent experience will also be considered.
  2. Knowledge of transmission networks, overhead lines, cables and substation equipment would be beneficial. However, transferrable core skills will also be considered.
  3. Preferably hold SAP Authorisations or have the willingness to develop towards this (up to 400kV) in a timely manner.
  4. Understanding of health and safety legislation, including a working knowledge of CDM Regulations.
  5. Flexibility to work away from base location and a full driver’s licence is required.

Please note applications will also be considered from electrical engineers from other sectors with less specific experience, with a starting salary commensurate with experience levels. Training and development will be provided to ensure continuous progress.
