The role
As a Physicist you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. The Physicist provides the technical delivery of physics services and projects to meet stakeholder requirements and in support of the achievement of business objectives and targets. Supports the development of consultancy and characterisation opportunities and capability within Science and Hazard Management.

Day to Day, You’ll:

  • Take a role in providing specialist radiometric advice and consultancy services during the design, operation and decommissioning of nuclear facilities under Site License Conditions and the Environmental Permit.
  • Delivery technical work involving the application of radiometric physics techniques both in the field and theoretically.
  • Support the development of new business opportunities in current and future markets to support the Nuclear Services Strategic Plan.
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relations with customers, colleagues and other Cavendish Nuclear departments.
  • Provide support to strategic growth campaigns and bids including supporting value propositions, marketing content and presentation materials to support the Cavendish Nuclear Strategy.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of Industry best practice, promote a culture of best practice across S&HM.
  • Adhere to the highest standards for health and safety in immediate area of responsibility and ensure all team members co-operate with respect to company standards about matters on health, safety and environment, ethics and behaviours.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 days working from home.

Essential experience of the Physicist:

  • Technical background preferably in physics or associated discipline such as mathematical modelling or radiometric instrumentation.
  • Experience delivering technical solutions to radiometric instrumentation development and service applications to nuclear sector customers with minimal supervision.
