Introduction
Bradford Cathedral is seeking to appoint a creative thinking Director of Music with the vision, experience, and skills to inspire others to engage with choral music and shape the musical life of the Cathedral. They will be a choir trainer and liturgical musician, able to work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the English choral tradition flourishes at Bradford whilst also demonstrating a willingness to experiment with new ideas and explore the cultural diversity of musical traditions from across the wider Anglican Communion.
As Bradford’s year as UK City of Culture unfolds, bringing international interest, it will be an exciting time to join the Cathedral team, with the choir and its repertoire thriving and a range of exciting opportunities to raise the profile of music at the Cathedral. These will include collaborations with the famous Black Dyke Band and the BBC, as the Cathedral hosts both Songs of Praise and the BBC’s Christmas Day service.
Offer of this position will be subject to the completion of an ‘Enhanced with barred lists’ DBS disclosure. Bradford Cathedral is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and all vulnerable people. This commitment is shared by our staff and volunteers.
