We are Sports Interactive, the gaming studio behind Football Manager. Founded in 1994, Sports Interactive became a wholly owned subsidiary of SEGA Europe in 2006. Position Overview
Sports Interactive are seeking a Mid-Level Copywriter to sit within our Content team, which operates within the Marketing & Communications department. In this role, you’ll work closely with both the Content and Community teams with a focus on crafting engaging copy for both the Football Manager brand and wider studio across all facets of marketing and comms. As a core driver of the studio’s written output, you will play a pivotal role in elevating the brand and its products through compelling and creative storytelling. You’ll play a key role in shaping communication across a wide spectrum of deliverables, from persuasive copy and calls-to-action for advertising campaigns, to articulating exciting, new product features with clarity and impact. The role perfectly suits a creative, passionate writer who’ll have a meaningful impact on how the Football Manager brand develops, driving engagement with new audiences, alongside its long-established and growing community.

This position is a fixed-term contract with a duration of 12 months.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Producing clear, compelling and creative copy for a range of marketing needs across content initiatives, social, PPC (search), web, CRM, packaging, digital store pages, and other promotional materials.
  2. Collaborating with design, marketing and business development teams to ensure copy is aligned with content and brand strategies and meets legal and licensing requirements.
  3. Assist in establishing, developing and maintaining a consistent brand tone of voice across all platforms and touchpoints.
  4. Reviewing, editing and iterating copy based on feedback from stakeholders.
  5. Working closely with Community leads to provide clarity and guidance for any copy required for language localisation or translation.
  6. Overseeing multiple projects from conception to completion, ensuring quality standards and timely delivery.
  7. Contribute to brainstorming sessions for creative campaigns and new initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  1. A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience working in a copywriting (or relevant role).
  2. Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills with a flair for storytelling.
  3. Familiarity with the major social media platforms and writing for digital-first audiences.
  4. A collaborative mindset and the ability to thrive under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  5. A willingness to learn, adapt, and take on constructive feedback.
  6. A passion for football is beneficial, with a good understanding of the discourse that surrounds the game and what topics/trends resonate most with fans.
