Location: This is an office based role. You will work from the central services hub (BS30 8GB). However, there will be occasions when the post-holder is required to travel to other establishments within The Leaf Trust, including schools that are already part of the Trust as well as those preparing to join. These are all in the South Glos. and Bristol area.
Salary: Grade 8, £31,586 – £34,314 FTE per annum (Actual Salary based on weeks worked and hours: £28,561.45 – £31,028.23 per annum)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 37 per week, term time only to include INSET days plus an additional 2 weeks in the school holidays (Part-time considered: minimum 32.5 hours per week)

This is an exciting new role within The Leaf Trust’s growing HR function, offering the opportunity to shape and develop HR practices in a collaborative and forward-thinking environment. As Recruitment & HR Officer, you will work closely with the Head of HR and HR Assistant to deliver a high-quality and efficient HR service.
With The Leaf Trust continuing to expand, this role offers an exciting opportunity to lead on recruitment, support HR operations, and contribute to key HR projects, making a real impact across our schools.
The Role
You will play a key role in supporting HR operations across The Leaf Trust, ensuring compliance with policies, employment law, and best practice. Your responsibilities will include:
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruitment Leadership – Lead on recruitment across the Trust, ensuring compliance with safer recruitment standards. Prepare and advertise roles, create engaging recruitment packs, and guide schools on best practice hiring processes. Proactively build the Trust’s talent pool by networking with local universities, organising and attending career fairs, and developing partnerships to raise the Trust’s profile and attract high-quality candidates.
- HR Advice & Support – Provide guidance to Headteachers, School Business Partners, and members of the central team, coaching them to use HR policies effectively so they can provide advice to staff.
- HR Administration – Issue contracts and offer letters, update HR systems and maintain records.
- Policy & Compliance – Conduct Single Central Record checks, support audits, and contribute to policy development.
- HR Projects & Systems – Support the implementation of a new HRIS, TUPE processes for new schools, and system improvements.
- Training & Communication – Deliver HR training, contribute to Heads’ and staff newsletters, and manage HR content on SharePoint.
- Formal Meeting Support – Provide administrative support and take minutes at formal HR meetings.
