Azure Migration Engineer (Outside, up to £450 pd)

Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Application Migration & Cloud Engineer to drive the discovery, validation, and migration of applications into Azure. This role involves data discovery, application interface, and cloud infrastructure design to ensure seamless application grouping, migration, and modernisation.

Key Responsibilities:

Application Grouping & Discovery:

• Validate application groupings within wave plans.
• Assess risks of increased network latency across Shared Services, Co-hosted Applications, and Thick Clients.
• Conduct a high-level database review to identify one-to-one and one-to-many relationships.
• Perform application-to-application interface mapping.
• Deploy and validate Azure Migrate & Dependency Agent across the IT estate.
• Create application groups within Azure Migrate based on server mappings.
• Validate application interfaces to ensure accurate grouping.

Third-Party Application Discovery & Integration:

• Coordinate with third-party vendors for technical discovery (database, interface, and network assessments).
• Ensure seamless integration of third-party applications within migration timelines.

Migration Oversight & Application Modernisation:

• Provide guidance on application migration best practices.
• Design and build load balancing solutions using Azure services (Azure Load Balancer, Application Gateway, Traffic Manager, Front Door).
• Terraform / Bicep – Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Azure DevOps pipelines.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Proven experience in cloud migration and application migration, specifically Azure.
• Strong knowledge in Application architecture, N-Tier, In-House developed & COTS based applications.
• Strong knowledge of Azure infrastructure services, networking, and security frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of Infrastructure services, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory.
• Experience with application grouping, dependency mapping, and migration strategies.
• Familiarity with Azure Monitoring, Log Analytics.
• Strong stakeholder management and vendor coordination experience.
