My client is a market-leading Solar & BESS developer with a project portfolio of over 5GW across the UK. Due to recent success, they are now looking to hire an experienced Project Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning and Coordination
- Develop the Construction Phase Plan in collaboration with subcontractors, detailing the construction schedule and milestones
- Coordinate logistics with Project Manager and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment
- Conduct pre-construction site assessments and manage site setup, including temporary facilities, temporary access roads, and laydown areas
- Site Management
- Lead and manage on-site subcontractor teams ensuring efficient workflows for timely completion
- Supervise all construction activities, including but not limited to: groundworks, trenching, structure installation, module mounting, electrical works, site reinstatement
- Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance
- Collaborate with Principal Designer during the development of the Risk Register during pre-construction, and ensure a smooth handover when construction starts
- Act as Principal Contractor and ensure all construction activities comply with UK health, safety, and environmental regulations, including CDM (Construction Design and Management) regulations
- Implement and enforce health and safety plans, risk assessments, and method statements (RAMS)
- Promote a culture of safety and conduct regular toolbox talks, site inspections, and incident reporting
- Quality Assurance and Reporting
- Ensure that all work is executed to high standards and in line with Employer Requirements and industry best practices
- Provide regular updates to the project manager, including progress reports, cost tracking, and risk assessments
- Resource Management
- Monitor project progress, identify and address potential overruns
- Optimise resource allocation, including manpower, materials, and equipment, to maximise efficiency
Requirements
- Proven track record in managing large-scale solar farm projects
- Experienced in UK construction practices, regulations, and standards, including CDM compliance
- Desired but not compulsory:
- Relevant certifications in construction management (e.g., Black Managers CSCS Card, Gold Supervisors CSCS Card)
- Relevant certifications in health and safety (e.g., SMSTS, NEBOSH, IOSH)
- Experience developing solar farms on landfill sites
