About the Role:

  • The Sales Director is responsible for driving sales growth, leading a high-performing sales team within the assigned region, and developing strong relationships with important customers. Reporting to the Managing Director, this role ensures revenue and margin targets, supports the growth of market share and drives a customer service obsessed function.
  • The role holder will also work closely with the centralised Operations, Buying, Finance, HR and Marketing teams to ensure that their team receives the service required to deliver our service promise to our customers.
  • This role is critical to the sustainable growth and ultimate success of the business within the next decade.

Main Duties and Tasks:

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of Sales Managers and representatives to achieve targets and provide excellent customer service.
  • Provide training and support to enhance product knowledge and sales effectiveness.
  • Monitor performance metrics and implement action plans for continuous improvement.
  • Recognise and celebrate good performance and utilise formal people processes to manage poor performance. Share best practice within own team and across the broader sales organisation
  • Plan succession for team and support colleagues with potential to realise it fully
  • Create a customer focused culture in which colleagues are able to feedback opportunities and barriers to the continuous improvement of customer satisfaction and sales

Sales Growth and Execution:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to increase market share and offer a differentiated level of service
  • Identify and target new business opportunities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and partners
  • Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activity

Maximising Sales Performance:

  • Monitor sales and margin metrics and adjust strategies as necessary to achieve objectives
  • Builds and maintains great customer relationships
  • Is proactive in growing customer base and equally focused on customer retention
  • Works in partnership with the buying team, providing insights on product and pricing to improve centrally bought range

About the Individual:

The ideal candidate will have the following experience:

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills with a track record of driving performance and landing change
  • Commercially driven with strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to analyse data, market trends, and financial reports to make strategic decisions.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the region.
  • Demonstrable experience of improving sales and margin performance
  • Floor covering market knowledge is preferable however candidates from adjacent industries will be considered.
  • Strong understanding of retail sales dynamics, including pricing, promotions, and merchandising.
  • You will Ideally be currently working within the Floorcoverings Sector or a related market Ceramic Tiles, Building Products or DIY.

Remuneration:

  • Basic Salary £100,000 + Bonus, Great Benefits and Car
