Job Description
We are seeking a well-rounded and dedicated Legal Advisor with extensive experience in residential real estate, residential litigation, commercial real estate, and property management. The successful candidate will provide expert legal advice and support to our team, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations while protecting the company’s interests. This individual will be assisted by a legal assistant and must take ownership of their role to improve the business residential team. Construction knowledge is a plus, but not necessary.
Criterion Capital and Criterion Hospitality are a family office business which operates in the Private Residential Sector, Commercial property sector, as well as construction and Hospitality. We operate in a vast array of property areas in our portfolio and the candidate would be exposed to multi-discipline areas of law and gain great general exposure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice and support on a wide range of real estate transactions, including residential and commercial properties.
- Handle residential litigation matters, representing the company in court and managing all related legal processes.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, leases, and other legal documents.
- Conduct thorough legal research and stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends.
- Advise on property management issues, including tenant disputes, property maintenance, and compliance with local regulations.
- Collaborate with external legal counsel and other stakeholders as needed.
- Ensure all company operations comply with applicable laws and regulations.
- Assist in the development and implementation of company policies and procedures.
- Prepare and present reports to the Legal Director and senior management.
- The successful candidate must take ownership of the role and have the ability to provide insight and develop the role going forward.
- Handle confidential information with the utmost discretion and professionalism.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent; a Master’s degree (LLM) or additional legal qualifications are a plus.
- Extensive experience in residential real estate, residential litigation, commercial real estate, and property management.
- Strong understanding of real estate law, contract law, and litigation procedures.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficient in legal research tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
