Head of Finance reporting to the Senior Head of Finance
What you\’ll need to succeed
Candidates will need to be ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified with a proven track record in dealing with and managing educational finance, LEA funding and team management.
Job Duties:
- Maintaining a secure overview of the management of all financial issues within each of the Trust’s schools.
- Assisting the Senior HoF with ensuring the financial sustainability of the Trust.
- Advising the SLT on all financial matters as appropriate.
- Ensuring that a robust internal control system is implemented and maintained within the Trust.
- Working with the SLT reviewing Trust policies, processes and procedures to ensure best practice and good financial governance is maintained.
- Working with the SLT to develop and manage the month-end process, ensuring that management accounts are produced in a timely manner.
- Preparation of individual and consolidated monthly management accounts, including review of draft accounts, written commentary, variance analysis, balance sheet reconciliations and cash flow forecasts.
- Preparation of individual and consolidated financial forecasts/budgets/year-end accounts for the Trust, ensuring that the Trust\’s financial sustainability is maintained.
- To develop and maintain the Trust’s financial software ensuring systems operate efficiently and provide detailed, accurate reports for stakeholders at all levels.
- Working alongside the Senior HoF to lead on effective and efficient procurement strategies within the Trust in order to ensure maximum value for money is achieved.
- Liaising with external regulators such as the EFSA/DfE, Charity Commission, Companies House, external auditors and internal auditors as required.
- Providing efficient financial assistance to the wider Trust regarding all aspects of financial management within the Trust.
- Supporting the SLT in leading the internal audit programme within the Trust, including internal audit and Internal Financial Assessments, ensuring the internal control systems are efficient and effective.
- Leading the external audit process.
- Researching and advising the SLT and Executive Board on opportunities for additional funding or income-generation activities.
- Upholding good governance and ethical behaviour, including good accounting practices in the finance function and ensuring the Trust upholds good accounting, reporting and internal control systems.
- Executing the generic duties of a senior leader.
- To deputise for the Senior HoF in relation to financial matters during any periods of absence or unavailability.
- Performing other ad hoc duties and assignments as may be determined by the Senior HoF, SLT or Executive Board.
