Job Description

We are looking for a Head of Business Support ready to lead impactful change, drive service excellence, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for guiding the strategic and operational direction of our Business Support Service, overseeing a team of over 150 staff and managing a budget of £4.5 million. You will be at the heart of everything, constantly on the move—working directly with people, navigating conflicting demands, and ensuring that service delivery is seamless.

Your expertise in digital transformation, particularly with AI, automation, and digital platforms, will be key in streamlining processes, enhancing efficiency, and ensuring customer satisfaction. As a natural leader, you’ll motivate and energise your teams, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and drive performance through engaging workshops and collaborative efforts. You will not only manage service delivery within budget but will also be the driving force behind improvements, constantly pushing for better results across all areas of the service.

We’re looking for someone with a proven track record in managing large teams and complex budgets, and who thrives in managing change. Your ability to inspire others, lead by example, and make data-driven decisions will be essential in achieving the service’s goals and maintaining high performance in a busy and ever-evolving environment. If you have the energy, passion, and drive to lead a thriving team, we want to hear from you.

This role will work from various sites across the City to include Ballard House, Council House, and Crownhill Court in Plymouth to support staff and the Leadership Team.

Please note, this position is not suitable for flexible working due to the needs of the service.
