Metrology Engineer – Casting

Schedule: Monday to Thursday 16:00hrs – 00:00hrs / Friday 14:00hrs – 22:00hrs (37.5hrs per week)

Metrology Engineer – Machining

Schedule: Monday to Thursday 16:00hrs – 00:00hrs / Friday 14:00hrs – 22:00hrs (37.5hrs per week)

The postholder’s key responsibilities include:

  1. Management and creation of clear and concise measurement reports displaying all customer and manufacturing required outputs.
  2. Lead dimensional problem resolution, incorporating relevant engineering and projects teams.
  3. Sign off the documented fixturing requirements for each product.
  4. Analyse measurement reports and communicate any non-conforming measured features and features approaching tolerance limits.
  5. Liaise with production staff to correct any issues.
  6. Review and monitor measurement processes to increase productivity and efficiency while maintaining measurement integrity.
  7. Oversee and understand the dimensional analysis of products, tooling, sand cores, or gauges using scanning and/or tactile measurement techniques.
  8. Manage calibration processes as required.
  9. Utilize SPC tools for decision-making based on recorded data.
  10. Engage with management regularly, reporting on project status, activity, and achievements.
  11. Operate and maintain a range of sensitive metrology equipment according to the TPM schedule, ensuring it remains serviceable and calibrated, with accurate records.
  12. Work with quality, engineering, and production teams to facilitate quality improvements, including activities to reduce scrap and rework.
  13. Comply with statutory regulations, national and international standards, industry and organizational procedures relating to codes of conduct when carrying out measurement tasks.
  14. Ensure all production activities are carried out in line with approved risk assessments and process instructions, including the use of PPE.
