Job Description:

This role is categorized as hybrid. The successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum.

The Role

As an Infotainment Audio Software Developer, you will be responsible for contributing to the creation, maintenance, and support of all Audio Functionality within the General Motors Infotainment system, enabling customers to enjoy a premium audio experience.

What You’ll Do

  1. Contribute as a designer and developer to design, code, and release software for an Android/multi-process RTOS OS such as QNX.
  2. Participate in the implementation of the Vehicle Audio Control Service.
  3. Improve and maintain existing Infotainment Software.
  4. Conduct feature requirements analysis and test-case design review.
  5. Engage in feature prototyping, testing, and refinement.
  6. Tailor existing drivers, stack, and applications to our needs.
  7. Provide clear and complete documentation based on the software development process.
  8. Collaborate with other engineers using Scrum/Agile development processes.
  9. Occasionally travel domestically and internationally.

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  1. 5+ years of hands-on experience developing applications or middleware for embedded/mobile platforms.
  2. Object-oriented software development experience (C++) with a solid grasp of algorithms and data structures.
  3. Experience working with large code bases, developing entirely new code and maintaining existing code.
  4. 2+ years of hands-on development experience with Android/AOSP components, frameworks, and architecture.
  5. Knowledge of test development and testing of embedded system firmware.
  6. Software platform development experience, such as Linux and Android platform.
  7. Commercial software development experience in C++, Java, C.
  8. Familiarity with Android development toolkit, test frameworks, and processes.
  9. Experience with SCM tools, GIT, JIRA, Jenkins, etc.
  10. Experience with Scrum/Agile software development processes and being a Scrum Master.
  11. Ability to perform complex diagnostics and investigations based on limited information.
  12. Creative, disciplined, strong sense of responsibility, delivery, and schedule commitment.
  13. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  14. High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively in a geographically dispersed team.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  1. Working experience with Mobile Platforms/Services and Apps, CarPlay, and Android Auto.
  2. Experience with Audio Frameworks such as aaudio, alsa, android audio stack.
  3. Experience with HAL Development.
  4. Experience in developing automotive infotainment solutions.
  5. Experience in automotive and/or portable consumer electronic devices.
