There is an exciting opportunity to join our Play Team at GOSH as a Health Play Specialist . We have a One Team ethos , and you will be required to support your fellow Play Team members across the whole hospital, but will be based in a ward or outpatient area.
You will be responsible for the successful delivery of the agreed Play Service business plan and objectives through direct delivery, teaching, and effective communication.
You will manage a caseload of patients, providing therapeutic play interventions to help alleviate anxieties and fears, increase cooperation during hospital treatments, promote well-being, and contribute to a positive patient experience.
You are required to hold a current FdA in Healthcare Play Specialism or an equivalent qualification. Please see the Job Description for more details.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake therapeutic assessments and devise play programmes tailored to children and young people\’s individual needs as part of their care plan.
- Plan and implement therapeutic play programmes, including preparation for procedures, distraction therapy, and post-procedural play.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions using reflective practice to ensure the best outcomes.
