We are recruiting for a new role – System Director for Urgent and Emergency Care (UEC) in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

You will be the senior leader in our UEC collaborative. We are excited about the ambition of the collaborative and its aims to improve quality, efficiency and productivity within UEC clinical pathways.

This is an exciting time to work in LLR. As part of the Integrated Care Board, we have strong and effective relationships across general practice, NHS providers, Local Authorities and voluntary sector partners. We want to work together to drive transformation change in Urgent and Emergency Care across LLR.

We want to be the best possible health and care system and our quest is to make LLR the best place to work in the NHS. We are looking for a colleague who can show that they lead in the right way and who can evidence how they deliver. We know inclusive, supportive and empowering cultures deliver safe patient care and a key aim for this post holder will be to develop a one team approach from partners and stakeholders across the urgent and emergency care pathway to deliver the required transformation through the ongoing development of the UEC collaborative.

Interview date 27th March 2025.

Thank you for showing an interest in this role. Jean Knight (Managing Director/Dep CEO LPT), Nil Sanganee (Medical Director LLR ICB), Jon Melbourne (Chief Operating Officer/Dep CEO UHL)

The colleague will work with us, the System Clinical Director and Head of Nursing, and wider teams to drive improvement and transformation across the UEC pathway on behalf of the system partnership. The role will provide many opportunities to make a difference to colleagues and patients and will have the full support of the partnership across the LLR ICB.

Lead the strategic planning, and ensure the delivery of the plan, for Urgent and Emergency Care (UEC) on behalf of the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR) UEC Collaborative. Working on behalf of the LLR system, including University Hospitals of Leicester, the LLR Integrated Care Board, Leicestershire Partnership Trust, East Midlands Ambulance Service, our other urgent care providers and in partnership with local authorities and primary care, the postholder will lead the LLR UEC Collaborative.

The post will work closely with health and social care partners to embed system priorities underpinned by an appropriate assurance framework and a culture of joint responsibility for delivery, performance and recovery.

This is a system role working with all partner organisations across the LLR system.

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We Have Four Primary Goals

  1. high-quality care for all,
  2. being a great place to work,
  3. partnerships for impact, and
  4. research and education excellence

And we will embed health equality in all we do – taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:

  1. we are compassionate,
  2. we are proud,
  3. we are inclusive, and
  4. we are one team

This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
