Our client, a leading energy supplier, is looking for a Risk Control Manager to join their team. In this role, you will oversee middle and back-office functions for the UK gas and power portfolios , ensuring accurate and timely reporting to support procurement decisions. A key aspect of this role involves managing stakeholder relationships by effectively communicating performance updates, project progress, challenges and strategic insights to senior leadership. To excel in this position, you will need a strong background in risk management within a B2B energy supplier environment , along with proven experience in engaging with internal and external stakeholders . Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee accurate reporting of commodity exposure and monthly P&L.
  • Manage a team of three, providing leadership and development.
  • Deliver clear monthly performance updates to Finance and senior management.
  • Ownership of the gas, power, embedded generation and storage Mark-to-Market positions.
  • Present key insights to senior management, highlighting movements, risks, and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Finance to ensure full understanding of monthly results.
  • Ensure effective reconciliation of trades and contracts (e.g., storage, Sigmoid).
  • Oversee validation of commodity and green certificate invoices between Trading and Finance.
  • Manage personal development, objective setting, and training for core desk functions.

Skills and experience required:

  • 5+ years commercial experience in an energy role, preferably with risk management experience.
  • Proficient in use of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Power BI and SQL.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with a confident and engaging approach.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and drive informed decisions.
  • Strategic thinker with a big-picture perspective to support long-term success.
  • Highly organised, able to work under pressure, with team management experience (preferred).

Location: Surrey (hybrid working arrangement)

Salary: up to £70k DOE + bonus
