Willow Cottage Nurseries is seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic individual to create a nurturing environment for children aged 6 months to 4 years. You will assist the Operations Manager in ensuring the grounds are safe, clean, and engaging, and help with the upkeep and enhancement of the school’s facilities. The role involves performing scheduled maintenance tasks and addressing any immediate needs as they arise.
This is a newly created role within our organisation, and it requires a high degree of flexibility to adapt
to various situations and needs as they arise.
Conducting thorough risk assessments is crucial to ensure the safety and well-being of children in our
care. Training will be provided to ensure you are well-prepared for the role.
Please note that having your own car/transport is essential.

Roles and responsibilities
As our new School Groundskeeper and General Maintenance Team member, you will:

Work both independently and cooperatively with the management team, nursery staff.

Work safely and consciously in environments that are shared with children.

Maintain an excellent standard of safety, cleanliness, and hygiene onsite.

Follow Health and Safety procedures and carry out risk assessments.

Identify, prioritize and report property maintenance issues as they occur.

Assist with the planned maintenance programme for each setting, including painting, clearing,
cleaning, light repair work, gardening and other property maintenance related tasks.
- Assist with proactively and regularly touring the buildings and site to identify repairs and
maintenance issues

You must enjoy working alongside children.

Familiarity with the Early Years is highly desirable.

Be flexibly available to cover the onsite supervision of contractors and absences of team members.

This can be a physically demanding role, Experience in schools or early years environments highly desirable.
Understanding and experience in Risk Assessments required., Applicants must be able to provide evidence of having the right to live and work in the UK and must undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers and DBS and barred lists checks.
Hours:
We expect that there will typically be between 8 and 20 hours of work available each week. The more
flexible you are with working evenings and weekends, the more hours we will be able to offer you.
Our nursery operates from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm and is open 51 weeks a year. Therefore, this position is
not restricted to term-time only., Salary £16 per hour during office hours and £25 per hour outside of opening hours
